Joseph P. Rotonda








Chief Rotonda was a member of the Newark Police Department for seven
years, before joining the Belleville Police Department. He was a member
of the Belleville Police Department for 35 years, before his retirement, in 2016.

Chief Rotonda served in the US Army Reserves and attended Rutgers University.

In July of 2000, Chief Rotonda was appointed Belleville Chief of Police, at which time, he was responsible

for over 160 employees, including 115 sworn officers. During his tenure, he also served as

Township Manager.

As a member of the Belleville Police Department, he served in the Patrol
Division, Detective Bureau, Juvenile Bureau and Narcotics Squad, as well
as the Administrative Bureau, serving as Commanding Officer of all.
Chief Rotonda was the President of the Essex County Chiefs of Police
Association, for two years and a member of several fraternal
organizations.

Chief Rotonda joined the Delbagno School for Police, in 2017, where he
presently serves as an instructor.
